Hello,
I am reporting a critical power management bug in the Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver version 24.20.0.3. On a Gigabyte AERO 15-XA laptop with BIOS FB09, this driver causes a persistent hardware hang.
Hardware Details:
Device: Intel AX200 / Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x
Hardware ID: USB\VID_8087&PID_0029
System BIOS: FB09 (2020-03-19)
Symptoms:
Device Manager reports Code 10: STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE.
The Bluetooth module disappears or reports "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".
Standard power cycles (even with internal battery disconnection) fail to clear the error because the v24 driver immediately re-locks the bus upon boot.
Steps that resolved the issue:
Full uninstallation of Intel Wireless Bluetooth software using Revo Uninstaller to remove registry leftovers.
Manual deletion of the driver package via
pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall /force.Uninstallation of the Intel(R) USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller from Device Manager to force a hard reset of the internal USB bus.
Forced installation of the stable v23.170.0.3 driver.
Please investigate how driver v24.20.0.3 interacts with the power states (D3/D0) on this specific Gigabyte motherboard/BIOS combination, as it causes a state that prevents the hardware from initializing.

Hello gala,
Thank you for posting from our Intel Communities with a detailed report regarding the critical power management issue with Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver version 24.20.0.3. I acknowledge the severity of this hardware hang issue on your Gigabyte AERO 15-XA laptop and appreciate the comprehensive troubleshooting steps you've documented.
To help with proper issue isolation and provide targeted support, could you please clarify the following:
- Can you confirm if the Intel AX200 is an upgrade or replacement from the original Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x wireless card? If this is a replacement, have you verified with Gigabyte (OEM) that this component is fully compatible with your AERO 15-XA system?
- Can you confirm that all Bluetooth devices are completely unable to connect, or are there specific devices that may still function intermittently?
- Could you provide your system's SSU log file? This will help me analyze the current system configuration and identify any potential compatibility conflicts with the BIOS FB09 and power management states.
Your detailed analysis of the D3/D0 power state interaction is very valuable, and this information will help our engineering team investigate the driver's behavior with your specific motherboard/BIOS combination.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,
JeanetteC.

Hello JeanetteC,
Thank you for the follow-up. Here are the clarifications and the technical data you requested:
Hardware Origin: This is the original factory-installed Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x (Intel AX200). It is not an upgrade or replacement.
Connectivity Status: All Bluetooth devices are completely unable to connect. Device Manager reports Code 10 because the hardware fails to power on at the controller level.
System Configuration (from SSU):
Model: Gigabyte AERO 15-XA
BIOS Version: FB09 (03/19/2020)
ME Version: 12.0.40.1433
OS: Windows 11 Pro (Build 26200)
I have attached the full SSU log file. As noted in my initial report, this v24.20.0.3 driver branch appears to have a critical conflict with the $D3/D0$ power state transitions on this specific BIOS/ME combination.
Best regards,
gala

Hello gala,
The latest recommended driver for your Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x is version 24.20.0.
The link above is already updated and Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (x/w) is included for the download.
Please also be advised that the product is discontinued and best to stop the notification or hide the update on IDSA. Kindly check the link below for guide on how to stop/hide the notification on IDSA:
Control the notification frequency for the updates via IDSA
Let me know if you still need our assistance.

Hello JeanetteC,
Thank you for your time, attention, and assistance in reaching a definitive resolution. Please note that my feedback is shared constructively, with the sole intention of improving the user experience and providing a clear path forward for others, rather than expressing any frustration.
I have reviewed your previous message. The specification of the driver version limit (v24.20.0) was the relevant information, as all other troubleshooting steps were executed prior to this discussion.
Given that the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA) automatically extracts system data, including BIOS versions and installed drivers, Intel should implement systematic update blocks or targeted notifications for configurations identified as incompatible. This approach would proactively prevent breaking functionality for users. If a known conflict exists, as documented in this thread, IDSA should prevent the update distribution to affected systems rather than requiring users to manually hide it. My main goal in posting was to provide a documented resolution to help others avoid the headaches associated with these undocumented hardware failures.
Additionally, I am uninstalling the IDSA utility. Since this hardware is classified as discontinued and no longer receives active driver support from Intel, the software is redundant for my system due to the following hardware statuses:
Networking and Bluetooth: The Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x and Intel Wireless Bluetooth modules are discontinued , and updates beyond version 24.20.0 cause STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE (Code 10).
Processor and Graphics: The Intel Core i7-9750H CPU and Intel UHD Graphics 630 are mature components managed via OS-level updates.
Storage: The INTEL SSDPEKKW512G8 no longer receives active firmware updates via IDSA.
Software: The Intel Killer Performance Suite does not necessitate updates due to the underlying network hardware's end-of-life status.
I suggest that Intel implement an explicit "end-of-life" or "obsolescence" notification within IDSA to definitively inform users when their specific systems are no longer supported.
I am glad we could reach a common ground and establish a documented fix that will save many users from future troubleshooting. Thank you again for all the support, and I wish you success in your future endeavors.
Best regards,
gala
