Can Not Connect to WiFi with Intel WiMAX 6250

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665. The wireless card/adaptor is a Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250.

I installed the 'Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility. When I start the utility, though, it only gives me the option of searching for WiMAX networks.

I can not get an option to search for my own wifi.

I have turned WiMAX off, then right-clicked on the Utility icon in the taskbar. It does not give me a "Turn wifi On/Off" option as described in the instructions I found in the product's help file.

I believe that when I first installed the software, it asked me to select wifi or WiMAX. I have removed and reinstalled the drivers/software and done a system restore to before the software was even installed, but it still will not give me that option again.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jeff,

i think it's a matter of using the correct software version. Here are 2 versions you may try.

here's the link to download driver and proset utility

1. Toshiba website - Toshiba Wireless Connection Portal:

2. Intel website - Download Center

Hope it works

Thank you for your post Jeff.

From your description it appears that you only installed the WiMAX portion of your wireless + WiMAX adapter. To download the drivers and software for the Wireless portion of your adapter click on the appropriate link below:

For Windows* 7 32 bit, download Wireless_15.2.0_s32.exe for Windows* 7 64 bit download Wireless_15.2.0_s64.exe from here:

For another Operating System click on the link below and select the Operating System on the top you would download "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows XX*:

I hope this helps, best regards.
