Cannot enable my Intel AX200 wireless adapter in Manjaro

Hi all,

I am struggling to enable the Intel AX200 wireless adapter in my Tongfang PF5NU1G laptop. My laptop uses Intel AX200 as Wireless/Bluetooth adapter, and I am currently working on Manjaro x64 with Linux kernel 5.10.2. Bluetooth seems to work correctly, but wireless does not. Note that although I had used Windows 10 x64 before, I have wiped my SSD and clearly installed Manjaro; yes, I am not dual-booting now. I am disabled secure booting at BIOS, too.

I have tried to download AX200 driver from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005511/network-and-io/wireless.html, extract iwlwifi-cc-a0-46.ucode into /lib/firmware, execute `sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi` and `sudo modprobe iwlwifi`, and reboot, but this does not work for me.

I attached some details about my system:

$ sudo dmesg | grep wifi

Hello @Deneb

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Just to make sure, from the link where you tried to download the drivers, for the Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz the recommended Firmware is iwlwifi-cc-46.3cfab8da.0.tgz. Is this the one that you tried?

In order to check this further, could you please provide the following information?

1- Is the Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 the original wireless adapter that came pre-installed in your laptop or did you integrate/replace it?

2- What is the specific issue? Wireless card not detected? No Wi-Fi networks available? Connectivity issues/connection droppings?

3- Did the wireless card work fine when the system was running Windows?

4- Did it work fine before with this Linux distro (or with any other distro) before? If yes, was there any software/firmware/hardware change related to the point when the issue started?

5- Please type the following command to the terminal: # lspci and provide us with the outcome.

6- Please run the Intel® System Support Utility for the Linux* Operating System and attach the report to gather more details about your system.

Best regards,

Hello @AndrewG_Intel,

Thanks for your interest in my issue.

Is this the one that you tried?

Yes, I tried with exactly that link.

1- Is the Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 the original wireless adapter that came pre-installed in your laptop or did you integrate/replace it?

The AX200 wireless adapter is pre-installed and I never changed my wireless adapter after bought my laptop.

2- What is the specific issue? Wireless card not detected? No Wi-Fi networks available? Connectivity issues/connection droppings?

In Manjaro, wireless card cannot be detected, so I can't use Wi-Fi functionalities. Specifically, executing `gnome-control-center` doesn't show Wi-Fi as its menu, and even if I search Wi-Fi menu, I can find Wi-Fi menu but even this time `No Wi-Fi Adapter Found` message is shown.

3- Did the wireless card work fine when the system was running Windows?

Yes, Windows was fine to work my wireless card.

4- Did it work fine before with this Linux distro (or with any other distro) before? If yes, was there any software/firmware/hardware change related to the point when the issue started?

I never installed any other OS/distros on my laptop, except WIndows and Manjaro. So I don't know.

5- Please type the following command to the terminal: # lspci and provide us with the outcome.

I am a bit confusing, but I should say that my Intel AX200 works again accidentally! Intel AX200 Wi-Fi functionalities firstly work with Manjaro x64 in my experiences since bought this laptop!

Yesterday, before the last shutdown, I was still struggling the issue with no forward stepping to solve. Today and now, after booting and some hours, I checked that my Wi-Fi functionalities are now available in Manjaro, too. As far as I know, I never changed my system core settings, and never executed any system commands. Note that I already tried many times rebooting whenever applied the ucode firmware file, but there were no luck.

As I don't know how did I luck-up, I am able to say very little words about how could I solve my issue. Sorry to that. But when I encounter the same issue again, I wish to continue this thread.

Thank you,

Deneb

Hello @Deneb

Thank you very much for your response.

We are glad to know that the wireless card started working again. Yes, it seems a little strange how it started working. Perhaps, there was something with the OS and/or BIOS preventing the firmware to apply properly but after several reboots it finally did.

If the issue reappears, you may review and try the following:

1- Does the WiFi work on older Kernel versions, and fail to be detected after Manjaro upgrades to Kernel 5.10? If yes, then you can review and try with a different kernel version.

2-  You can also try to upgrade to the latest Linux Firmware available from this link* https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/ which contains the matching firmware ver.59 of AX200 for Kernel 5.10.

If the issue reappears/remains, please do not hesitate to contact us back. Please post back in this thread or create a new one so we can continue assisting you.
