I decided to replace the default Killer card in my Dell XPS 9560 with an Intel 8265. I've insured installation was done correctly (seated properly, cables connected correctly, etc.) but I cannot for the life of me get WiFi to "turn on."
After installing the card, Windows detects it just fine in device manager. I installed the correct drivers using both Intel's site and (when that failed) their driver update utility. No luck. The WiFi icon in the task bar is disabled and cannot be turned on even by accessing WiFi options.
For now, I've reinstalled the Killer card which is functioning again.
Any ideas what might be going on here? Anything I'm missing?
Thanks in advance!

Hello dfwdesigner,
While we don't recommend nor provide support for custom wireless integrations (as mentioned by Al Hill), based on your description it seems to us that you're doing everything right.
The issues you're experiencing may be due to some hardware limitation placed by your computer manufacturer, or a defective wireless adapter (dead on arrival unit, perhaps?).
Checking the http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/4/product-support/product/xps-15-9560-laptop/drivers/advanced support page for your laptop, the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 should be supported, as it's listed under the possible hardware configurations for your model. However, there are several "sub-parts" for each wireless adapter, and you may have purchased one that does not match your system, or was customized for a different computer manufacturer.
http://ark.intel.com/products/94150/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-8265 Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 Product Specifications, Ordering and Compliance page:
Our best recommendation when looking to upgrade the wireless adapter on a laptop computer is to contact your computer manufacturer and purchase the replacement part from them directly. This is the best way to avoid compatibility issues.
