Hello everyone,
I have a lenovo thinkpad t420i 4177CTO. My Proset diagnostic always shows that the driver is not installed. So I am wondering if my laptop actually has an intel centrino wireless adapter. Is there anyone can help me figure it out? Thanks a lot!
best,
Rui

Per Lenovo website, it can be configured to have non-Intel wireless card. You don't have the configuration for your CTO? Go to Control Panel | Device Manger, expand on Network adapters node. Check if you have Intel WLAN card.
Or Press Start (assuming you're using Win7), type msinfo32 in the search box. Once msinfo32 launches,
expland Components | Network | Adapter. Copy paste the information on the right side of the window. Or you can check yourself.

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_819510EC is not an Intel WLAN adapter. So, I think you should contact Lenovo or download non-Intel (ThinkPad WLAN card) drivers and see if WiFi comes up.

Muthu, Thanks again. Lenovo does not offer a realtek driver for windows 8. Windows 8 has an universal driver that works for me. Now I understand why I cannot install intel proset driver, and why I cannot install widi. Thank you!
