I recently purchased a laptop through an online auction, and it turned out to be an engineering sample. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi module is not functioning. Could you please advise if it would be possible to replace it with a consumer-grade model of the same specifications? I am happy to provide any additional details or serial numbers you may need.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Sats Davyd-Frank

@Frank05 That's 'unsupported' ; meaning the forum deals with official products using
official Intel products. In your case anything can happen
and by definition becomes impossible to resolve

@Marc-Elsen: Simply not true! This is a Community forum and the community at large is free to help people with unsupported products (as they are with supported products as well).
@Frank05: Ok, yes, it's true, it's unsupported - in fact, was technically never supported - and Intel's agents (thus) won't help you.
[Aside: In fact, Engineering Samples are technically the property of Intel and people receiving them (directly from Intel) are not at liberty to sell them - and will lose this benefit if Intel finds out who they are.]
All this aside, let's see what we can do here. There are two possibilities, (1) the component is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be replaced, or (2) the component is on a daughter card and can be replaced with the same or newer wireless card. In order to determine which is the case, what is needed (first) is a system scan. Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility for Windows. When you start the utility, select Everything and then click on Scan. Once it completes the scan process, click on Next and then Save. Pick a name for the text file to create and click on Save to create it. You can then close the app. Finally, create a response post here. Using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog (below the edit box for the body of your response post), upload and attach the resulting text file to this response post.
