Hi guys, my laptops been having issues with the network adapter intel(R) wifi ax201 160mhz all the time like since months ago now, every now and then it keeps popping up w the issue code 10, sometimes code 43, and I'm just so sick of it. I am a college student and I can't be bothered fixing the thing every now and then for like minimum of 20 minutes, de installing the device etc. So I was wondering, can I just take the part out and replace it with one that won't have issues? Could someone tell me which other adapter would be compatible with my laptop?
Thank you in advance

As for cause, there are two possibilities, either the AX201 is failing (I consider this unlikely) or the drivers have been screwed up by upgrade process(es).

Question: Are you using Intel Driver and Support Assistant (IDSA) to handle your Intel driver upgrades or are you relying on Windows Update to do so?

We can talk about four hardware replacement possibilities,

  1. Replace the (possibly defective) AX201.
  2. Replace the AX201 with an AX200 (the non-CNVi version of your adapter). Whether this is possible is dependent upon whether the M.2 socket implementation properly supports non-CNVi adapters. You either just go ahead and try it or you contact HP for an answer (good luck getting that to happen quickly).
  3. Upgrade the AX201 with an AX210 (WiFi 6e) (Killer equivalent AX1675 (x/w)) or even a BE200 (WiFi 7) (Killer equivalent BE1750 (x/w)). Again, whether this is possible is dependent upon whether the M.2 socket implementation properly supports non-CNVi adapters. You either just go ahead and try it or you contact HP for an answer.
  4. Replace/Upgrade the AX201 with a non-Intel, non-CNVi adapter. Again, whether this is possible is dependent upon whether the M.2 socket implementation properly supports non-CNVi adapters. You either just go ahead and try it or you contact HP for an answer.

Hope this helps,

...S

Thank you for your reply! I had in fact relied on the Windows updates to handle my Intel driver updates, matter of fact, I have never even heard of IDSA. I've now installed the IDSA and there were actually some AX201 updates available so I downloaded them. Hopefully this was the problem all along and it gets solved. Otherwise I'll really change out the Hardware component, according to the guide you've given me. Thank you for your helpful advice. Greetings from Germany and have a nice day!
