I have just installed Linux on a second hand gen 8 Lenovo x1 Carbon, and I'm having trouble with Bluetooth. Essentially the laptop is unable to discover BT devices the majority of the time, and when it does discover one, I'm not able to connect to it. Wi-fi works fine.
Software utilities report the device has an AX201. I've tested this issue across two distros and at least three kernel versions. I also updated firmware using fwupd.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
In the end, I came to the conclusion the laptop must simply have hardware damage. It turned out that bluetooth was functioning properly, but with an incredibly short range (devices had to be almost physically touching the laptop for it to pick them up). I sent the laptop back for a refund.

Hello jack456,
Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.
For me to further check this, please help provide the following details:
- What is the complete brand and model of your laptop?
- Was it working fine before?
- What was the last change made in the system before the issue started?
- Can you share the link of the driver that you used?
If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,

Hello jack456,
For the update and I am sorry to hear that.
Since you are now talking to the manufacturer of the laptop for Warranty, I need to close this inquiry.
If you need further assistance, please post a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
Thank you and have a great day.
Best regards,
Michael L.
