Intel AX210 NGW on X280

Hello

I just bought an AW210NGW wifi card on Amazon to replace the 9265 (wifiAC) card on my X280 which is original LENOVO.

After replacing it as it should be and downloading the driver concerned on your site, my "Motherboard" (Bios update 2024) no longer restarted (burned).

An abnormal overheating.

MB is changed at the price of $275 (it stings) ...

Old original wifi card reinstalled, everything works! For fear of repeating the same experience

So my question:

Is there anyone with a good OR BAD experience with installation on this type of AX210NGW wifi card?

Normally, compatible, seen on the Intel site.

Thank you all for your understanding

No shame in being a novice at 62 and ESPECIALLY in learning.

Before writing to you, believe me, I searched the 4 corners of the NET.

Thinkpad 20KES31E00 FIRWARE: 11.8.96.4657

BIOS: Latest version installed _ N20ET71P (1.56) / 2024-10-15

 Is it compatible with AX210NGW?

A request was made to "Lenovo Support" ... given that my tiny X280 is no longer under warranty ...

Thank you BRUCE

 Best regards

The AX210NGW WiFi card is generally compatible with many systems, including the ThinkPad X280, as indicated on the Intel site. In some cases, compatibility can sometimes vary based on specific BIOS versions and system configurations. Verify your BIOS version if it supports the AX210NGW card. Sometimes, a BIOS update may be required for full compatibility

Hello VRAY,

Thank you for raising this concern via Intel Community. Kindly follow the regulatory information regarding wireless hardware installation or upgrade, and I advise you to contact your laptop OEM for guidance if the wireless card is okay to be integrated on your laptop.

An Intel® Wireless Adapter installed in a system that is being sold on the market doesn't necessarily mean that the same wireless adapter can be used or installed in any other systems due to country-specific legal regulations. Installation or use of Intel® Wireless Adapters is subject to these regulations, which may require certification with the intended antenna or at the full system level. For instance, in the US, the rules governing the use of antennas with certified modules are covered under FCC rule parts 15.203, 15.247, and 15.407, accessible at the FCC site. Therefore, before installing or changing the Intel® Wireless Adapter in a system, it is crucial to contact the system manufacturer to ensure the adapter is approved for use in your system and country and to follow the manufacturer's post-approval requirements. Additionally, even if integration has been performed, compatibility issues may arise due to hardware or software dependencies.

Hello JohnM

Read your feedback carefully:

1> Installing an Intel® Wireless Adapter in a system sold on the market does not necessarily mean that the same wireless card can be used or installed ...

See below the attachment ... no comments

REMINDER:

Thinkpad 20KES31E00

FIRWARE: 11.8.96.4657

BIOS: Latest version installed _ N20ET71P (1.56) / 2024-10-15

No error codes detected (white list) and W11 recognizes it... etc!

2> Thanks in advance for sharing the " certification of the AX210NGW _ Europe-France " ..?

3> Contact OEM Lenovo France See their response below ... He hits the ball into touch...

Hello, VRAY.

I appreciate your response. Kindly follow the Regulatory Information Regarding Wireless Hardware Installation or Upgrade. It's crucial to ensure compliance with country-specific legal regulations when installing or upgrading wireless hardware.

Just because an Intel® Wireless Adapter is installed in a system being sold on the market doesn't mean it can be used or installed in any other system. The installation or use of Intel® Wireless Adapters is subject to country-specific legal regulations. Some countries require these adapters to be certified with the specific antenna intended for use in the system, while others require certification at the full system level. For instance, in the US, the rules governing the use of antennas with certified modules are outlined in rule parts 15.203, 15.247, and 15.407, which can be accessed on the FCC site. Since each country has different regulatory requirements, you must contact the system manufacturer before installing or changing the Intel® Wireless Adapter to ensure it is approved for use in your system and country. You must also follow the manufacturer's post-approval requirements. If you have already integrated the adapter, be aware that it may not function due to hardware or software compatibility issues or dependencies.
