Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 bluetooth issue

I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual. Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed (18.33.0.2 and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively).

AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here. For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally. Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.

I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.

Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth? Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

Hello CliffCFC,

Please keep in mind that Intel® Wireless Adapters can only be installed by the manufacturer or its authorized representative. We advise you to contact the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html Original Computer Manufacturer Support (OEM) for assistance on this matter.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005687.html?wapkw=regulatory+information+regarding+hardware+installation Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005600.html Install Intel® Wireless Drivers and Software

They would be the ones to let you know the correct way to remove the driver and software of the old adapter before installing the software for the new one. Also, they can confirm that the adapter is physically installed correctly.

There are different versions of the http://ark.intel.com/products/75442/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-3160# @ordering Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 and the manufacturer may add additional customizations to make them fully compatible with their system. It is possible that your PC does not support all versions of this wireless adapter.

Please make sure that both antennas are properly connected in the system, and that you remove the software from the old adapter. If the issue persists, please check the OEM for further assistance.

Hi jonathan_intel

Thanks for the input. The laptop is stocked with one antenna only. I will share the update again once I install the second antenna which I think it should improve the BT range.
