Intel Killer BE1750s (BE201) doesn't detect 6 GHz wireless

Hi everyone,

As the title says, I own a laptop (Windows 11 Pro) with the Intel Killer BE1750s wi fi adapter, that doesn't detect any 6 GHz wireless network. 

The laptop was purchased in Italy, has italian keyboard layout and the 6 GHz network band is allowed in this country. 

The 6 GHz access point works fine because I can connect to it with another laptop that has the MediaTek MT7902 wireless adapter.

What I've tried:

  •  Ubuntu live → doesn't detect 6 GHz netowork
  •  Enable all 6 GHz-related setting in advanced setting → doesn't work
  •  Driver 23.70.2 from Intel → doesn't work
  •  Driver 23.80.1.3 from OEM → doesn't work
  •  Driver 23.160.0 from Intel → doesn't work

If I run the "netsh wlan show drivers" the 6 GHz band is supported, but doesn't work.

Apparently the problem is the Intel LAR / DRS system the problem: the adapter sees which "country code" other access points are transmitting, and if sees codes that doesn't match the allowed one, blocks the 6 GHz band.

It's frustrating to not have control over your own hardware.

I'll wait for a response from Intel.

For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.


  1. What is the brand and model of the system?
  2. Let me also check, did you manually install this Killer BE1750 as an upgrade or this is embedded in the system?
  3. Let me clarify, you purchased the laptop in Italy, and you are still in Italy, but you cannot connect to 6Ghz?
  4. Was there an instance that you were able to connect to 6Ghz? If yes, can you tell me how were you able to connect to 6Ghz?

Hello Mike,

 

1. MSI Prestige 16 AI+ Evo B2VMG;

2. Is embedded in the system, never touched anything inside;

3. Yes, yes, yes;

4. No, never with this laptop.

 

I already contacted MSI support and they told me that there in nothing locked at BIOS level.
