I was looking an for an update for the wireless driver for my Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205 laptop wireless card. I found the first link below that pointed me to the second link. I downloaded the driver only and double clicked .exe to start the install. A graphic popped up and then went away then nothing. For some reason I can't install it. I made sure it was running as an admin and I even tried to run it in compatibility mode for windows 8. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
Thanks.

rmccaethy24,
Intel recommends that you obtain the latest drivers from your OEM first. Please contact them and check for other options for assistance regarding the installation.
As a second option, you can try our generic drivers found in our download center: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25511/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-8-1- Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Windows 8.1* - File Name: Wireless_18.21.0_e164.exe
After you have contacted the OEM and still notice any issue, you can do the following:
1. Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software", if it is installed. When prompted, choose the option to "Discard settings".
2.In Control Panel, Device Manager, Network Adapters, right click on the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205 and Uninstall it. Make sure you mark the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".
3.Reboot the PC or scan for hardware changes, check device manager and if an older driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.
4.Install the Intel® Wireless driver. During the first steps of PROSet/Wireless installation, make sure to customize the installation and install all the 3 driver components.
