Intel WiFiLink 5300, Model 533AN

Hi!

Bought a wireless adapter to upgrade my netbook (Packard Bell Dot). The card shows up in the device manager but it does not connect or even show any networks. The icon in the systray has a red cross over it and says "Not connected" and when I troubleshoot I get the answer "A network cable is not connected".

Is the card broken or what? Is there limits for what the motherboard can handle?
