Intel Wireless Driver generating unnecessary windows events

I have been suffering for some time from the windows event log being filled with an unnecessary events of the form:

Source: Netwtw06

Level: Information

EventId: 7023

Message: 7023 - Intel proprietary

These are occurring at a rate of 1 a minute.

This issue is similar to

I have reinstalled the latest driver following your clean install procedure at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers

The latest software I now have installed is Intel PROset/Wireless Software version 20.50.0.

The wireless driver I am using is for the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 version 20.50.0.4

I know that Intel's answer in the past has been to place a filter on the windows event log to exclude the erroneous events.

However I feel as this is generating between 20000-40000 events per month, Intel should really deal with the removal of these events.

Hello dkstringer,

Thanks for posting in our communities. We understand you're receiving several information events from Netwtw06.

In order to better assist you, please provide us with the following files:

- Intel® System Support Utility report.

1. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600 Download the latest Intel® SSU.

2. Select to include "everything."

3. Name and save the report.

- System event logs

1. Clear all previous logs.

  • Press Windows + R
  • Type eventvwr.msc
  • On Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System
  • Clear Log

2. Reproduce/accumulate a few events.

3. Save the event log in evtx format, no filter.

  • Windows Logs > System
  • Save All Events As > Name
  • Display information for these languages > English (US)

The attach option is located at the lower right of the reply box. Just for testing, can you confirm if the events are reported with the same frequency with driver version https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27615/Wireless-Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10 20.40.0.4?

I'm noticing the same issue on my laptop today. My unit has the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 adaptor in it. I have attached the SSU report file and the cleared System event log that shows several entries of the event in question within 5 mins or so of clearing the event log. Any guidance on this would be most appreciated!

Hello mjolly803,

Thanks for posting and sharing your logs.

This has been reported on a different thread: and we're already working on it.

For now, we recommend a rollback to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27615/Wireless-Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10 driver version 20.40.0.4 through a https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html clean installation. This release doesn't report the events with the same frequency.

Best regards,

Hi,

I just wanted to inform the event log messages have now stopped.

The events stopped when I upgraded Intel Wireless Proset Drivers from version 20.50.0 to 20.60.0.

I believe this upgraded the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 driver version from 20.50.0.4 to 20.60.0.7.

Sorry I couldn't deal with the request for logs and earlier driver behavior, as my machine is my main work machine and is in constant use. So I couldn't spend time uninstalling/re-installing old drivers etc..

I had the same problem on a new Gigabyte B360M WIFI ITX board. The bundled CD installed v20.30.0.7 of the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 driver.

I told Device Manager to update the driver and it downloaded and auto installed v20.90.0.7. I am happy to report it has resolved the numerous ID 7023 - Intel Proprietary 7077 Netwtw06 events being logged in the system event log at least every minute. 😊
