I'm planing to do a WiGig 802.11ad link between 2 computers (1 mobile, 1 fixed) by using http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/tri-band-wireless-ac-17265.html Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 in the mobile PC and http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/wigig-sink-w13100.html Intel® Wireless Gigabit Sink W13100 in the fixed PC.

I know there is software support for 17265, but is there any software support for W13100 ?

Any info is appreciated!

Hello Chris_DB,

We understand you're looking to create a network between two of your systems. You plan on doing this by connecting a laptop using an Intel® WiGig Wireless adapter to your desktop computer using the Intel® Wireless Gigabit Sink.

We regret to inform you that custom wireless integrations are not supported, and depending on local regulations, might even be illegal (not to say that the FCC may bust down your door, but this is why we cannot provide much support).

Intel® Wireless Gigabit products are marketed for OEM products. Since these are intend to be integrated by computer manufacturers into their docking solutions, the bulk of the support falls to the respective original equipment manufacturer. If you're a system builder looking to use this adapter in one of your systems and would like some design support, you may contact your sales representative or our team over at the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/design/resource-design-center.html Resource & Design Center.

We hope this information helps. Please let us know if further assistance is required.

Best regards,

Carlos A.

Thanks for the information.

I understand regulations are restricting end user support, however, even though custom integration might not be approved, the 60 GHz ISM band is legal in my country since docking station using this band are available for purchase.

In fact, this is what I'm going to do, buy a Dell wireless docking station WLD15, which does use this adapter.

Regards

Hello Chris_DB,

Thank you for your interest.

That being the case, Intel® will often take a secondary role, providing basic troubleshooting while Dell* will be your main resource of support as the OEM of the docking station.

If you have any questions, or need further support, please let us know.

Best regards,
