Hello All,
I am trying to install wireless drivers for AC 8260 VM, but for some reason, whatever I do, wireless card is not getting detected. I am currently blocked with my further projects and unable to proceed further. Appreciate if somebody can help me ASAP. Thanks
Below are a few things which I have tried.
1) Downloaded drivers, installed.

Hello coolblue7007,
The link you have provided us is for the latest firmware, not the driver.
For the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 to work, you will need to make sure that your current distribution is using the Linux* Kernel version 4.1 or above.
"Iwlwifi" is the wireless driver available for our current wireless adapters in Linux*. For driver support you will need to contact the https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi Linux* Community Page (under the "Support" heading), or your Linux* distribution's support forum.
- http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005511.html Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters.
- https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers Existing Linux* Wireless drivers.

We hope this information helps.

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response. I believe I have installed the firmware and then copied to the lib/firmware dir. Can you please LMK how do I install driver? I was under the impression that installing firmware would take care of Wifi Issue. As per the link you provided, I have performed that, please take a look. Thank you.

Hello coolblue7007,
When using a virtualization solution, it's important to check with the software vendor to ensure that your hardware is supported. In many cases, a wireless connection will be displayed as a virtual ethernet connection in your virtual machine.
If your linux build is using the 4.1 Kernel or above, you won't need to install the wireless driver, as it will already be integrated. If the kernel version is lower than 4.1, then the 8260 won't be supported.
However, in this case we do have some bad news. From the information on your latest reply, we can see that you're using VMware*, which does not support any of our wireless adapters (it does not support WLAN altogether, as far as we're aware). For more information we can recommend for you to contact https://www.vmware.com/support/contacts.html VMware* Support, or to visit the https://www.vmware.com/support/contacts.html VMware* Support Communities where you might find quite a few related threads.
- http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php VMware* Compatibility Guide (lists all supported hardware).
