I just got a new Laptop (Redmi Book 16 pro 2025) with Intel Wi-Fi adapter AX203.  It does not work with the newest Linux kernel.

Here is output of "lspci -nnk|grep -iA3 net"

May I ask when you're going to release the firmware for these devices?

Hello DarkShaw,

Thank you for posting in the Intel Communities.

To better understand the issue and provide an effective recommendation, please provide the following key information:

  1. Can you confirm if your system device is the REDMI Book 16 2025? If not, please share the exact product link.
  2. Was the system originally pre-installed with Linux, or did you change the OS from Windows 11?
  3. If it was working previously, what changes were made?
  4. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your system configuration by downloading the Intel® System Support Utility for the Linux* Operating System. Please refer to the Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility and share the SSU log file.

I'll await your response so I can further investigate your query.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

Hello DarkShaw,

Thank you for sharing the details about your REDMI Book 16 Pro 2025 with the U7 225H edition. I understand you've chosen to use Arch Linux instead of the pre-installed Windows 11 Home edition.

Concerning the WiFi device not being detected during OS installation, and experiencing similar issues with other operating systems like Ubuntu and Gentoo, it appears that a firmware update may be necessary, or there might be operating system compatibility issues.

Please allow me some time to investigate this matter further, and I will provide an update as soon as possible.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

Hello DarkShaw,

Could you please confirm whether the pre-installed wireless adapter on the REDMI Book 16 Pro 2025 with the U7 225H edition is AX201 or AX203? We are asking because the firmware installed on the laptop is intended for AX201.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Dear JeanetteC_Intel,

I've been following this thread for a while since I'm experiencing the same issue. Unfortunately, even with the Linux 6.15-rc2 kernel, the Wi-Fi adapter still isn't recognized correctly.

I have the same laptop model - Redmi Book 16 Pro 2025. One thing I'd like to clarify: this model comes in two variants, one with Intel Ultra 5 225H and the other with Intel Ultra 7 255H. The original post mistakenly mentioned "Ultra 7 225H," which doesn’t exist. My device uses the Intel Ultra 7 255H.

To help identify the Wi-Fi module, I checked it under Windows using the driver automatically provided by Windows Update. The adapter is identified as Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX203. To rule out any driver mislabeling, I’ve included the hardware IDs below:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7740&SUBSYS_02748086&REV_00
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7740&SUBSYS_02748086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7740&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7740&CC_0280

I also looked up 8086:7740 on PCI Lookup, but couldn't find any corresponding info, which makes me question the actual model. To verify, I physically opened the laptop and inspected the Wi-Fi module directly - I’ll attach a photo of it below.

Thanks a lot for your continued attention to this issue! If you need any additional details, feel free to reach out. I’ll do my best to assist in any way I can. Really hoping we’ll get a solution soon!

Best regards,
Tring Hermat

Good news is I got another solution for this issue. Buy a AX211 adapter on TAOBAO and replace the original AX203, It will cost you almost 42 RMB yuan($6). and everything works. That's done.  You don't need to wait the firmware update for ax203 anymore.

Hello cbysal,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

I understand that you are facing exactly the same problem with the same system model with Ultra 7 255H. However, I kindly request that you create a new thread for your case. This will allow us to focus on your specific problem and provide you with better assistance.

Hello DarkShaw,

Thank you for sharing this update. It's good to know that replacing the network adapter from AX203 to A211, fixed the issue. However, I need to reiterate the details below from this helpful reference article below:

Regulatory Information Regarding Wireless Hardware Installation or Upgrade

  • Installation or use of Intel® Wireless Adapters is subject to country-specific legal regulations. Some countries require the Intel® Wireless Adapters to be certified with the antenna that is intended to be used together in the system, while some countries require the Intel® Wireless Adapter to be certified at the full system level. For example, in the US, the official rules governing the use of antennas with certified modules is covered under rule parts 15.203, 15.247 and 15.407. These can be accessed and/or downloaded at the FCC site.
  • An Intel® Wireless Adapter installed in a system that is being sold on the market doesn't necessarily mean that same wireless adapter can be used or installed in any other systems for the above mentioned reason.
  • As each country may have different regulatory requirements, before you install/change the Intel® Wireless Adapter in a system, you must contact the system manufacturer to determine if the Intel® Wireless Adapters you plan to install is approved for use in your system and country. You are required to follow the manufacturer's post-approval requirements.
  • If the manufacturer doesn't have the necessary approvals, the party installing the device is responsible for approvals. Installing adapters in an unauthorized system may be illegal. The end user is not authorized to install the Intel® Wireless Adapters (except the retail products below). Only the manufacturer or its authorized representative can install the adapters.
  • If you have already performed the integration, it is also important to understand that it may not work due to hardware or software compatibility issues or dependencies.

If any issues resurface with the laptop's wireless integration, proceed contacting your OEM support for further assistance.

I will now proceed in closing this thread. Should you need assistance in the future, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.

Sincerely,

JeanetteC.
