Hello,

I hope you are well,

Could you please advise what is a connector on the AX201.NGWG.NV?

What is a sufficient antenna for them. If I am not wrong I should order 2x different one, first for 2,4 GHz and second for 5GHz? could you please advise on that?

Thank you for the assist,

What you need for the AX201 - and, in fact, for all of Intel's NGW Wireless cards - is leads with IPEX MHF4 connectors. These leads typically have RP SMA connectors on the other end and these connectors are affixed to the chassis of the PC. The antennas then connect to these connectors.

The same antennas can be used for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands; it is only when you want to use the 6GHz band does the antenna choice become important (your AX201 doesn't support 6GHz, however).

Here is an example kit that you could use: https://www.amazon.com/Antenna-MHF4-IPEX-Wireless-Repeater/dp/B07V1W759Z. If a mounting bracket is also necessary, here's an example kit that includes one: https://www.amazon.com/Communication-Solution-Protective-Transmission-Equipment/dp/B0D425YKZQ.

Hope this helps,

...S

Hi Greg6,

Thank you for creating a thread in Intel Communities.

We appreciate that you confirmed the subject first with us before you installed it.

Wireless antennas are generally provided by each original equipment manufacturer (OEM), as they will need to fit each computer and may subject to country-specific regulatory requirements.

Replacing wireless antennas can be considered a wireless integration on it's own. Intel® does not support wireless integrations. We recommend you speak to the manufacturer of your equipment for support on wireless integrations and replacement parts to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of your country.

To give you an answer though, The M.2 form factor Intel® Wireless Adapters use the standard 2x2 mm size RF micro coaxial receptacle (connector) with an outer diameter of 1.5 mm as defined in the PCI-E* M.2 Specification. Specific plugs should be selected to suit the assembly allowable mating height and cable diameter. Refer to the PCI-E M.2 Specification for the minimum requirements of the compatible RF connectors and mating plugs.

We hope that we have answered your question.
