Unexpected latency with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211

Hi all,

We are experiencing strange behavior with our wifi network card Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz.

Our test environement is the following :

  • Windows 11 Professionnel
  • Version 23H2
  • Wifi : Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz
  • Driver Version :" Intel  23.80.1.3"

When we send TCP traffic throug the network with a large amount of data (>1500bytes), the packet is not fragmented.  Is this behavior normal ?

Because when we perform the same test with another model of wifi card, wireshark shows  fragmented packets.

We have ~500ms latency between the request (packet 12 on on wireshark trace) and the reply (packet 16 on wireshark trace) when the packets is not fragmented. When the packet is fragmented, the reply arrives with low latency.

I have tried to set up differents wifi advanced options in order to see if It changes the fragmentation behavior but it didn’t help.

Please find attached  wireshark traces showing the latency and the log files from SSU.

The problem is seen on dell and hp laptops using this specific wifi card.

Looking forward for your response.

Best regards,

Yoann

Hi,

Do you have any feedback to provide ?

At least, how can we force packet fragmentation ?

Thank you.
