Updated wifi link 5100, programs unable to connect to the internet

Hi guys

this is my first thread and I've come here because I have a problem since yesterday with my laptop. I have'n acer aspire 8930 with wifi link 5100 and yesterday I updated my drivers. The problem now is that I can surf on the net, but programs like steam or starcraft are unable to connect to the internet. I can't even acces cerain site's and this is really interfering with my schoolwork. It's been since yesterday and I even tried a clean install of windows but nothing helps. Can someone please help me, otherwise I'm in big trouble for school :s
