I have a Acer 1410 with a Intel WiFi Link 1000 as it's WLAN device. My wireless network is dual band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and I would like my Acer to benefit from the additional bandwidth. I called Acer to ask about upgrading the WLAN and was told it's impossible. Looking at it though, it appears pretty simple to do and 802.11a/b/g/draft n cards are readily available for cheap. The form factor looks the same, but the number of "pins" is a bit different between mine and, say, a wifi 6200.
So, is it possible to upgrade? Can someone recommend a part# ?
Thanks

Wrong. The mfg (Acer) was lazy at best or intentionally misleading as I suspected. $19.95 online and a few days later I've upgraded my WLAN adapter to a 6200 and am now using my 5Ghz antenna.
