When I disable Intel's My WiFi wireless speed decreases

Hello.

I have Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 adapter in my notebook Dell Vostro 3550 connected to a WPA-protected network of 54 mbps.

When I disable My Wifi technology, wireless speed decreases at least 50%.

With My Wifi enabled ping to the router takes 2 ms and with My Wifi disabled it takes over 50 ms.

Is this normal?
