Why is the Intel AX201 160MHz adapter's 5G speed is moving slow?

Hi, I'm having issues with the 5G speed moving slow with the Intel Wi-Fi AX201 WiFi adapter on my Lenovo Ideapad 3 15IAU7 82RK001JUS laptop. I tried rebooting my system, uninstalled/reinstalled driver, turning off/on the WiFi adapter I'm still not getting any luck. The 2.4G is working and operating fast but i really want the 5G to work. The issue does resolve sometime later but it can happen if the WiFi router goes down again or just happen randomly after 1or 2 months.

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

 

1.      Are you having issues on Wifi or Bluetooth or both?

2.      When did it start to happen?

3.      Do you remember if this issue happened after a new OS update or Wireless driver update?

4.      Is this issue happening at home, office environment or both?

5.      Is this a new computer? If so, have check with your system's OEM for validated drivers or support on known issues related to the symptoms experienced?

6.      What OS version are you using?

7.      Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

8.      Have you checked if this issue happens on different networks?

9.      Have you rebooted your access-point, router, modem?

10.  Is this issue happening on other devices that use 5.0 Ghz?

11.  Does this problem occur if you are far from the router? Are there any obstacles or walls that could interfere between you and the router? You have to know that between 5.0 GHz and 2.4 GHz bandwidth regarding distance from the router is that 2.4 GHz has better coverage over longer distances, but 5.0 GHz provides faster speeds over shorter distances.

 

 SSU: Please download and scan your system using our tool, Intel® System Support Utility so we can help check your system info first. Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan 'Everything', click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide the .txt file.

This document will be necessary to check your entire system, in order to find possible errors or incompatibilities.

1. No i never had issues with the Bluetooth, is just the 5G WiFi connection.

2. I think it started 5 months after i bought this laptop.

 

3. No, i'm not sure. 

 

4. At home only.

 

5. Well the laptop will be a year old by the end of next month. I have looked up for validated driver with the device's manufacturer and they're all up to date. I have talk with Lenovo Support and they think there's no issue with the WiFi adapter since it could connect to 2.4G with no issues. The only thing they offer as a solution is to connect to another network.

 

6. Windows 11 Home 64-bit.

 

7. Its the original adapter that come with the system, i never changed it.

 

8. I think i have but i can't remember the result.

 

9. I have, although for every second or third time i do it, the 5G link finally gets back to top speed.

 

10. Not really. I have a Amazon Fire Stick with it's 5G link remaining at top speed, even when my laptop's own wasn't and they're both linked to the same network.

 

11. I'm actually close to the router, just some inches away with a wall blocking between it and my laptop pc because they're in separate rooms. If i open the door then, i would see the router. If i know is inefficient, then i would have this issue more than often because it seems to occur a month or two after the last time it happens. What i might add is that my house have experienced some power surges these times that i does see the energy saving bulb blinks in my room. I don't know if this might cause this problem, though when there's a blackout and when current comes back, it does happen. Well at least on one occasion.

For now try performing a clean install of the wireless driver from Lenovo first, if the issue persist try with our latest driver (follow the instructions in the hyperlink):

 

·        Intel driver: 22.250.1.

·        Lenovo driver: Intel_22.230.0.8_Realtek8822CE_2024.0.8.138_8852BE_6001.15.123.306

If the problem continues to persist, please don't hesitate to inform us. We will then proceed with a more thorough investigation to address the issue.
