Hello,

Please advise me about a non-functional WiFi card Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 , the windows system does not turn on the card and reports the error code 10 (in Ubuntu everything runs without problems), I have installed the latest drivers and the latest windows 10 updates.

(NTB Asus ROG G751JT)

Thank you
Petr

Hhmmm, that's a good question. I have both in my share. If you want to switch from one set to the other (especially if a down-rev), do it as a clean install.

Hope this helps,

..S

P.S. The Rev. D should work with both sets of drivers. The Rev. C with only the older (21.10.1).

Hi, Just a quick update. I had a phase where I wondered if the 7260 might work so I ordered one (this was last week). It arrived today. I also received today a USB adapter. I was amazed to discover the USB adapter also wouldn't install. With that I had again the error message 'A service installation section in this INF is invalid'. I followed the instruction on this page:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/a-service-installation-section-in-this-inf-is/7991f700-0079-47ff-8b3f-73828fa702d6

This healed the issue and the USB device installed. This is a TP-Link Archer T3U V1.

The 7260 would then install a step further than the 7265 was installing in that the BT fully installs and the WiFi adapter gets a full name in device manager, but it keeps its yellow triangle (on the wireless adapter). I had a period of hope that this meant I may be able to fully install the 7260, but this hope wasn't met with success as the 7260 simply would not install. What I think it does do, tho, is suggest the 7265 card is working, or I do have a fault on the motherboard, or the drivers are finally incompatible with the most current incarnation of Windows 10, at least for my Inspiron.

With the 3160, when it was working, I was getting about 30Mbps up and down. I was getting about the same with my ethernet adapter going thru a mains electricity extender system (including going thru a socket extender). With the USB adapter I am getting about 200 up and down.

My next challenge will be trying to get Windows 11 on this allegedly incompatible machine, but that will be another story!

Many thanks again.

Hi, A further update. The AX210 arrived. It installed instantly and gives a speed of 540 down and 415 up.

A final update for anyone else who may encounter this thread. During the course of my learning I had ordered a 8260NGW. It arrived today. I put this in and it installed instantly. It downloads at 370 Mbps and uploads at 305. This is not as good as the AX210 so I'll stick with the AX210 but it does prove that at least in my case, it was the drivers that were the issue with the older cards. Cheers and thanks a lot!

I tried both and neither worked so if it isn't the drivers then I guess it's a hardware issue with the card or the board. Thank you so much for all your incredible help. I can't say thank you enough!

The final driver packages that support each of the discontinued Intel Wireless adapters is available in my share (here). Simply go to the correct folder for your adapter and use the Wireless and Bluetooth packages there. Note that, for the 7265, you need to know if you have a -C or -D stepping. If you need help determining this, send me picture of the front of the adapter and I can try to determine so (he says in a very wishy-washy way).

you are my absolute savior! for almost 2 years now, I couldn't, for the love of god, understand why my 7265 rev c would connect only to some WIFIs  on windows, and works fine on just any Linux... your legacy drivers site just saved me!!! thank you SO much!!!
