Wireless AC 7260 & Windows 10, Card is detected but Wifi can't be switched on.

Hi

I recently changed the wireless card on my laptop running on Windows 10 (Acer Aspire E1-522 -> no whitelist).

Card is detected and enabled, but can't be switched on in the network connection panel. When I click on the switch, it comes back to Off.

I installed the latest drivers (18.12.1_ Win64) but it didn't change anything.

The bluetooth connection of the same card is working though...

Any idea?

Thx

Daspoon,

Before we go any further, it is important that you know that Intel does support integration which is when the original wireless card is replaced by another one.

Please check here for further information on this matter: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-011644.htm Intel® Wi-Fi Products — Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade

We recommend that you contact your computer manufacturer first and see if they can provide you any support and/or drivers that might resolve this issue. For your convenience, here is the list of computer manufacturers and their respective form of contact: http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support Web Sites

On our best effort to assist you. Here are some tips that might help you as well. Please know that since it is an integration, it may be that the card is not compatible with your system and the tips provided may or may not work given the circumstances.

1 - Download the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25196/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-10 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Windows® 10

2 - Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software", if it is installed. When prompted, choose the option to "Discard settings".

3 - In Control Panel, Device Manager, Network Adapters, right click on the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 and Uninstall it. Make sure you mark the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".

4 - Reboot the PC or scan for hardware changes, check device manager and if an older driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.

5 - Install the Intel® Wireless driver. During the first steps of PROSet/Wireless installation, make sure to customize the installation and install all the 3 driver components as they improve WiDi functionality.

Hello,

I followed all steps above but unfortunately it didn't work..

One thing I recently noticed though is that the card is working when the computer is coming back from standby but as from the moment I turn the computer off and back on, it doesn't work anymore...

I found a lot of discussions on the net regarding the standby mode but it's always the other way around, the card is not working after standby, which is not my case...

In the meantime, I'm in contact with the computer manufacturer and wait for feedback.

Daspoon,

Yes, in this particular case your computer manufacturer is the best source of assistance since the original card has been replaced.

I have the same issue - Installed a N 7260 in an acer Aspire V5 running Windows 10. Not able to turn on the wifi. (In fact you can move the switch, but it just jumps back)

At the fly-mode the switch is shown grayed out. (Bluetooth switch work)

However - if I make the PC sleep - and wake it up again, it is possible to turn on the wifi, and it then works fine until the PC is switched off.

There is no hardware switch on the PC

The original Atheros wifi works fine (but no 5GHz)
