bluetooth headaches

It seems that bluetooth has been at issue for eons. My 13th gen box with the AX211 is par for problems as much as my old 8th gen machine with an old card.

I'm sorry to hear about the experience that you had with Bluetooth connection. To address this properly, please help to clarify some information.

 

1. Were you able to have Bluetooth connection in a normal/expected performance before?

2. Is Bluetooth visible in device manager?

3. Are there specific device/s that gets disconnected from Bluetooth?

4. Is this a laptop or desktop system?

5. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

 

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

My machine is a Dell Latitude 5440 with an Intel i5-1345U CPU and 64GB RAM. The card is the Intel AX211 which is socketed but I am not in a rush to replace it yet.

 

Mice, headphones and other gadgets are problematic. I constantly have to remove and pair up mice and headphones and earbuds

I have since acquired a different machine that seems to be working better. I now have a Dell Precision 3480 which has a i5-1340P CPU and it uses DDR5 which makes this machine dramatically faster. The same WiFi card seems to work profoundly better suggesting the other machine has some issues.

The 3480 is far from problem free. Today I was battling the Phone link which was far from trivial.

 

The CPU is a P series and the 3480 uses DDR5 so the machine has some advantages over the 5440 that uses DDR4. The 3480 CPU is the i5-1340P. I have 32GB DDR4-4800 in the machine at present.

 

One question is the 2x64GB DDR5 now available. Dell is still far from JEDEC and Intel's CPU manual calls for 2x48GB. JEDEC goes much higher but at present 2x64GB is already expensive. I expect to eventually see 2x128GB SO-DIMM some day.

Now that I have been trying my Jlab Studio+ headphones, I am again finding myself constantly having to remove from my PC and my phone to start fresh. This is on both my Dell 5440 and my Dell 3480. Only real difference is DDR4 v DDR5 and a faster CPU.

 

IBM designed bluetooth so given Intel now uses it with WiFi the signalling is all the more muddy. I know the card has at least one PCIe lane to feed it but I do not know if the slot has 2 lanes or only one.

 

RFI is a constant problem on 2.4 GHz from 802.11 signalling and channel steering etc. Seem with 802.11ax and 802.11be. I might put a BE200 card in my 3480 as this machine is much more powerful.

I'm sorry to hear that you observed the same issue. Please generate the SSU report for me to check this thoroughly and also share the details below.


1. Were you able to have Bluetooth connection in a normal/expected performance before?

2. Is Bluetooth visible in device manager?

3. Are you utilizing drivers from OEM?


Also, you mentioned about putting a BE200 card. Please be informed that before you install/change the Intel® Wireless Adapter in a system, you must contact the system manufacturer to determine if the Intel® Wireless Adapters you plan to install is approved for use in your system and country. You are required to follow the manufacturer's post-approval requirements.

The FCC has whitelisted 802.11 upgrades as the short range nature is unchanging resulting in negligible changes in RFI

 

The main goal with the BE200 is more towards better channel aggregation so that network devices at at their peak.  The AX211 2 also supports 6 GHz but the 160 channel size is smaller than the 320 with BE200.

 

The SIG is looking at more channel aggregation wirth 802.11bn when that ever gets finished.

 

My Logitech M240 is bluetooth which I use on my Dell 3480 laptop. This machine has a P series CPU that is more of a power pig but it works a lot better or the work I do.

Thank you for the comprehensive input. Regarding the Bluetooth device (Logitech M240), have you tested latency or stability variance when switching between AX211 and BE200 modules? Additionally, are you seeing any interference-related performance issues when Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are active at the same time on either module?

I am aware that USB 3.0 and Bluetooth have problems with crosstalk interference. Then again I gripe about USB 3.0 root hub when I see USB 3.2 and USB 3.1 in the USB device manager. This shows a wilful intent to provide substandard performance.

 

Unfortunately 2.4 GHz ISM band is still overrun by 802.11 signals. While 5 GHz is widely used, adoption of 6 GHz is almost non existent. I was thinking that the cost of a new access point is maybe an issue but I suggest ca8 and single mode fiber can be run to each access point as copper limitation reach the max possible.

 

I use a WiFi analyzer to scan access points and look for a cleaner channel as my machine can pick up -78db and still download at relatively god speeds. Speed is obviously  better at -45db.

 

Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz ISM is the real problem. USB 3.0 is another gimmicked problem,

 

Recently I procured a USB-C M.2 NVMe / SATA dock. This dock can switch between SATA and NVMe automatically. The USB side is 10 gigabit. Due to power needed I need to use my USB 4.0 port which has 7.5W or 15W of power available. The UEFI has an option to select USB-C power delivery at 7.5W (default) or 15W

The last driver update, no sound at all from my JLab Studio+ headphones. Reboot same so sound.

 

Remove and pair up, same problem

After some cleanup in the device manager I am able to connect my Jlab Studio+ again. It is intermittent and as such it can be frustrating. My Logitech mouse is also slow to connect at times. Even when the mouse is powered on before the machine is cold started.

I noticed today on Youtube that my Jlab headphones would cut out and say connected in a cycle suggesting that even at point blank range there are issues.

 

Scanning 2.4 GHz I see it is awash with Wi-Fi signals and USB 3 can also mess up Bluetooth
