how to debug wireless issues

hello, i work for a wireless infrastructure vendor, and i often deal with wireless connectivity issues.

I know how to run debugs on my side, but often it's easier to root cause an issue when having logs on the client side too.

i tried to look for older posts on what the debugging methods are and i so far only saw 2 ways:

- event report from windows

- event viewer from windows

i tested today on a device which is suddenly disconnecting, and in the even viewer i only see: disconnection coming from driver, which is not of great help.

i then check the event viewer, but i don't see much.

How can we get the most verbose outputs from the driver side?

Hello pfusconi,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We understand that you are looking for information about how to debug wireless issues on the client side.

We use some Debug Data reports to investigate/troubleshoot wireless connectivity issues. The Debug data we use are the following:

  • Windows System Event log
  • Windows WLAN-AutoConfig log
  • Screenshots depicting failure

We also want to know if you would like that we help you troubleshoot the connectivity issue you are experiencing. It is important to mention that if you are considering sharing the data with us, do not post the files on the thread; we will be glad to contact you privately to gather these reports.

Hello pfusconi,

As our last comment on this thread, we would like to let you know that we don't recommend any third-party tools; therefore, we would also recommend you check with Microsoft support, as most logs are stored in the Operating System natively.

Best regards.
