wireless hotspot intel 9260 - adapter not found, hosted network support: No

Hello,

I recently installed an intel 9260 network card on my razer blade which used to use a killer 1535. The main reason why i swapped it out is because my killer network card did not support wireless display and casting from my laptop to any device in general. Since swapping out the card, the wireless display is now working with the intel 9260 and the wifi is better than ever, but now i am having problems with mobile hotspot. In my device manager i cannot find the wireless network adapter and in command prompt when i search info about wireless network drivers is says hosted network support: No. These network cards have been consuming my energy and time.

Please if anyone has any insight in how to make this work i would be grateful.

Please bear in mind that Intel does not support, nor recommends custom integration of wireless adapters since this may lead to installation errors, connection issues, software error messages (as the adapter not showing in Device Manager), and in some cases it may even be illegal. As for hosted network support, this along with ad-hoc features are not supported on Windows 10* due to the new driver model. Using the embedded Windows 10* mobile hotspot feature is recommended. Please check the article below for details:

I have the latest drivers installed and I have tried to install the generic drivers before I posted this question and nothing really.changed so I reinstalled the latest drivers for that specific chip intel 9260.

Besides that, i have a hunch that it's a software issue as I am able to connect to the WiFi mobile hotspot through my.phone but.i don't have internet access. In my network settings(control panel) I am not able to share the connection that actually does have the internet access with the "virtual network". On top of that if my hotspot wasn't working then my wireless display shouldn't work either correct?

What I meant that in my device manager the adapter used for mobile hotspot is not there but it does recognise my intel 9260 along with a bunch of other drivers that come with it but not the mobile hotspot.

There is definitely not a legal issue with this either. I have read in forums about other people changing their killer card on their razer for an intel 8260 or 8265 for the reason that they also had trouble connecting to a wireless display. However I don't know if that affected their mobile hotspot like my case.

I have read the links you posted... However I have trouble coming to a conclusion. Does this mean that I should wait for driver updates from.eothrr windows 10 or intel? Or is it just a fact I have to accept that I cannot use mobile hotspot on my laptop unless I comprise wireless display and switch back to the killer card?

Under normal circumstances, you should be able to use https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027762/windows-use-your-pc-as-a-mobile-hotspot Windows 10* mobile hotspost (this is different from hosted networks configured through netsh commands or third party apps). However, there are no plans to add the hosted network and ad-hoc features specified in the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023257/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html article shared in our previous post.

We recommend to http://support.razerzone.com/contact-support contact the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) support to check which adapters are supported by your computer and replace it with them whenever possible.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

I have spoken with razer and they directed me to a number of inter AC wireless cards which include 9260.

They noted that I should either contact intel about this issue or Microsoft tech support.

I will also notify Microsoft about this issue as the intel 9260 is made to work for both mobile hotspot and wireless display.

Obviously it is a software issue as the laptop is made to support any M2 22x30 card.

Also to note, under network adapters in device manager I cannot see any realtek drivers. I fear that might be the issue with my.mobile hotspot.

Any further guidence at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply.To discard software issues, Please try the following:- Update your BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date.- Update graphics drivers (both integrated and video card).- Perform a https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html clean wireless driver installation.- Temporarily disabled your Firewall and antivirus.- As a last resort, reinstall the operating system.Regarding the Realtek* drivers, we are not aware of this being a requirement for using Miracast* (Microsoft*'s wireless display).Best regards,Eugenio F.

However, there's one more thing you can test.Please try using the inbox driver. To do so, uninstall Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and remove the wireless driver from Device Manager.
