The subject says it all really. I am upgrading my Microsoft C++ projects to Visual Studio 2017 (VS2017) but I get a lot of errors, even though the projects don't use the Intel compiler! I was wondering if adding a Parallel Studio VS2017 integration would help, but when I modify the current Parallel Studio installation it does not offer VS2017 as an option.
Error message when building an MS C++ project in VS2017 :
1>C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V140\Platforms\Win32\PlatformToolsets\v140\ImportBefore\Intel.Libs.MKL.v140.targets(55,5): error MSB6003: The specified task executable "cmd.exe" could not be run. The working directory "\mkl\tools" does not exist.
O/S: Windows server 2016
Installed MS products: VS2012, VS2013, VS2015, VS2017
Installed Intel product: Parallel Studio XE 2017 Update 2 Cluster Edition for Windows
Hardware: Intel Xeon Platinum 8180

Hello,
Parallel Studio XE 2017 Update 2 doesn't support Visual Studio 2017 IDE integration, it will be available in coming 2017 Update 4 (for all tools including VTune Amplifier).
Intel Compiler integration in VS2017 is now available in Parallel Studio XE 2018 Beta.

When I attempt to run the same analysis on win8.1 with vs2017 and amplifier beta as with vs2015 and amplifier 2017 it goes to automatic crash report. Does beta support only win10?

Hello Tim,
Can you please clarify, what exact analysis and configuration of VTune leads to crash and if possible attach the crash report here or submit Premier support issue.
1. VTune <build #?>
2. Integrated to VS <version?>
3. VS project type?
4. VTune Analysis type?
Please notice that VTune Amplifier 2018 initial Beta doesn't support VS2017 IDE integration, it will be available in Beta Update.

Beta (build 507509) Copyright © 2009-2017 Intel
Test case was built under ifort command line in VS2017 (but possibly linked against VS2015) on Win8.1 (same procedure runs OK on Win10). I don't know how to verify which VS is used by Amplifier.
Advanced Hotspots is set. Basic Hotspots sometimes runs, sometimes produces crash report (during finalization) and then hangs in Finalizing (even after clicking Cancel). Sometimes also the offer comes up for a second or so to submit a report about slow startup. When Ampifiler hangs, it has to be stopped by Task Manager.
I haven't been concerned about the general difficulties in running various Amplifier versions from VS GUI so wasn't aware that this feature isn't supported.
In case it's of interest, I note that Intel has just updated Ultrabook Win8.1 drivers but apparently drivers for Win10 will not be released. One of the new graphics drivers which the Driver Update Utility supplied indicated that it doesn't support my laptop. My Win10 platform is NHM desktop.
