Specifically what linux kernel versions are [fully] supported?

Hi,

I have a crash on analyzing any results on multiple intel based linux machines. They all run Fedora 16 with a newish kernel. 3.2.10 or 3.3.0-rcX, 3.2.9 etc..

What specific versions of the kernel do you require? The "documentation" suggests 2.6.xx but it is vague.

Why is there no bug tracker for vtune, as opposed to this forum? I am a student and I have a free academic copy of all the software. Is there some way of getting assistance other than this forum?

Thanks for your report with crash stack info. I will report to engineering team, and get back to you soon after investigating.

However I wonder that FC16 is already supported on latest Update 7, see http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/vtunetm-amplifier-xe-release-notes/, but I haven't tried it yet. I tried on FC14 a few weeks ago.

Additional questions are:
1. Do you work on a Virtual box? It may crash if you run event-based sampling.
2. Do work on Xen-based system? It will crashif you try install vtune drivers...

A crash in this module indicates are problem with symbol resolution (that is - the crash should be happening during the 'finalization' stage, where symbol resolution happens, and not during the actual collection).

No ideas on workarounds, sorry.

Hi,

They are vanilla linux system. No VBox, no PAE, no XEN..

I'd recommend that you guys setup a koji/bodhi build/test system like fedora does, if you are going to support there architectures

How do you support something that you haven't tried? Someone surely has tried it. What kind of monkey house....

Ninja Edit: Also, I wonder why anyone would pay for support/licensing on software that works like this. 99% marketing 1% software development.

Amplifier XE Update 8 is now available, and contains fixes for symbol resolution on Fedora Core 16.
