Vtune cannot collect data in windows 11

My machine has win11 and linux system installed. I installed vtune on both system, but win11 vtune cannot collect any data from programs, even the sample program from vtune.

Problem:
Vtune cannot collect any data from programs in win 11. including sample project.

Environment:

 win 11

Things I have tried:

  1. install vtune in same machine under linux -> fixed this problem, but I need to optimize a windows application.
  2. run application in hotspost mode and by administrator -> no use.
  3. resolve sample result -> success. so the problem is not collecting data.
  4. run application until it ends -> no use.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities. We have tried the in-built Matrix sample and we couldn't reproduce your issue in VTune 2023.1 version. We could see all the metrics. Please refer the below screenshot.

To triage your issue further, could you please provide the below details so that we can debug your issue further?

  1. VTune version
  2. Your PC System requirements
  3. Sample reproducer - Your application, steps to compile, etc.

We could also suggest you to try uninstalling and re-installing VTune Profiler and see if the issue persists. Please update us.

Regards,

Alekhya

Thanks for your reply.
I noticed that vtune think my system is windows 10. But my computer setting says it is win 11 home edition (chinese mainland special edition). Maybe that is the problem? As for hardware, my laptop is yoga 14sIHU 2021.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your observations with us. We are working on this internally. We will get back to you soon with an update. Meanwhile, could you please run the command line analysis and let us know the results. You could get VTune commands from here(https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/vtune-profiler/user-guide/2023-0/command-syntax.html) Please let us know if you're facing any difficulties while running command line analysis.

Thanks,

Alekhya

Hi,

We apologize for the delay caused. We have a couple of questions from the dev team regarding your query.

Dev team couldn't reproduce your issue in the exact infrastructure of yours. Please answer the below queries so that we can debug your issue form our end:

  1. Do you an antivirus that could be causing a problem, or any other non-default settings?
  2. Were you able to run the matrix sample outside the VTune App.

Please try the below things and get back to us:

  1. Run a system-wide analysis.
  2. Run hotspots with user-mode sampling with the "Show Additional Performance Insights" unchecked. This should prevent it from using hardware events and help narrow down the problem.

Regards,

Alekhya
