Why it is an invalid license for the ordinary user in Redhat8.0?

After successfully installing vtune for linux 1.1 in Redhat8.0 (of course with installing driver and recompiling kernel), I find the invalid license infomation displayed when using "vtl -help" as an ordinary user. However, if I login as root, all is OK.
So what's the reason? thanks

Hey newlife2003,

Best guess: it's a group membership issue.

Users who want run vtl have to belong to the group that the vtl installer selected during installation. (The root user kind of trumps everybody, hence, will pretty much work no matter what.)

The default group suggested during install, is "vtune"

Make sure your nonroot users who want to run vtl are in the right group (check in /etc/group) and see if the problem goes away, stays the same, or changes. (The 'right' group is probably vtune, but you'd have to ask the installer to know for sure.)

Either way, let us know what happens.

cheers
