I225 integrated magnetics RJ45 jack (ICM/MagJack)

Dear intel team,

i am designing a cutom board with the intel I225 Ethernet controller and have some questions about the intregrated magnetics RJ45 jack (ICM/MagJack).

  • In the Reference Schematic Rev2.5, it says:
    "Suggest to select Magnetics part with common mode chokes on the Cable side."
    However, I am struggling to find any part with this configuration.
    In the Design Considerations and Guidelines document, it says:
    "Remove Magnetics Common-Mode Chokes locations requirement."

    So, is it really necessary to have the magnetics on the cable side or not?

  • I consider using the part no. 0826-1X4T-HT-F without using the PoE functionality, i.e. leave the PoE pins unconnected. Could you tell me if this part is appropriate for use with the intel I225 ? Or can you recommend a different 1X4-port part ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Marcel

@Adolfo_S_Intel

Is there a way to get that information as well? I also want to use a MagJack with Common-Mode Chokes on the chip side.

BTW: 607353 refers to "Intel® 2.5G BASE-T Magnetic Specification Electrical/Mechanical Requirements for 2.5G BASE-T Magnetic Components" but that Document can't be found anywhere.

nevermind.... I just downloaded the newest Ref.-Design-Files. The hint about the position CMC is changed now.
