epct64e Error "Cannot initialize adapter"

I would like to reconfigure port modes of my network card and receive the following error from epct64e tool:

Would appreciate your hint on how to troubleshoot the error. I have updated all drivers and OS and cannot come to a resolution after two days of searching and troubleshooting.

1. Please provide the output of "lspci" or "ifconfig"

2. Are you running the EPCT tool using sudo/ as a superuser?

3. Can you please confirm if the EPCT tool is the latest version and are compatible with the E810-CAM2 version?

4. Have you tried reseating the adapters?

5. Kindly provide us with the "dmesg" output

6. Please let us know if it worked previously and what changed?

2. I'm running the EPCT tool using the super user.

3. I confirm that I'm using the latest EPCT tool version (currently Version: 1.40.5.5). This version is compatible with the E810-CAM2 network card (I downloaded it from Intel download side for 800 Series Network Adapters (up to 100GbE), Linux OS) and the older version of EPCT did work with these cards, when they had NVM v3.10.

4. I have tried to reseat the adapters without any effect.

6. I have run the NVM upgrade from v3.10 to v4.40 (with nvmupdate64e output "All operations completed successfully")
