I am currently working with Intel Atom® Processor C3000, I want to know what does " supports memory refresh rate up to 4x " mean. what does the 'x' refer to? Could someone explain, how does Intel calculate the refresh rates?

I did contact jedec regarding this topic, Its been almost two weeks and I don't have an answer yet. While I wait for the answer from them, I want to know what was Intel's understanding regarding the refresh rate of the memory controller?

• you say 4X refresh rate is supported, with point under it mentioning --> Temperature based memory refresh not supported
• I am sure Intel is aware, the processor would be subjected various temperature ranges.
• So your proposed 4X refresh rate will support which temperature exactly?
• In the jedec, the refresh rate timing interval (tREFI) is clearly specified for specific refresh rates at different temperature ranges.
• From the memory controller on the Processor side, what would be the (tREFI ) timing value?

I will be glad, if you could help me in finding the answer for the timing values and temperature range. If there is any other document to be referred in this regard, Please direct me to it.

The Term “supports memory refresh rate up to 4x”; refresh, means in other words that it preserves data in the event of power failure. You can confirm this information and more details as a reference at the following website:

The temperature information related to the SKU C3364 can be found on page 7 of the Denverton AD Thermal and Mechanical Design Guide document # 569007.

Please refer to the information stated in sections 9.4 and 16.15; on pages 396, 370, 371, 372, and 562 of the Intel Atom Processor C3000 Product Family External Design Specification [EDS] document # 558579.

Also, please review Figure 21-5, on page 377 of the Intel Atom Processor C3000 Product Family BIOS Writers Guide [BWG] document # 566888.
