About the pktgen-dpdk

Hi All,

When we using http://pktgen.readthedocs.org/en/latest/index.html pktgen-dpdk as a packet generator,

Does the DUT must be run with dpdk ?

Maybe it must runs using sample code, testpmd、l2fwd、l3fwd, etc..?

Actually, my points is the DUT side.

The DUT side MUST be running dpdk sample code (ex: testpmd) when using pktgen-dpdk as a packet generator to generate packets, is that right ?

Since we deploy the environment like below:

Pktgen-dpdk <--- network cable ---> DUT

If the DUT had ran without dpdk sample, the pktgen-dpdk does NOT receive the packets.

In other words, the pktgen-dpdk can receive the packets when the DUT has been run with dpdk sample.

The DUT is independent that the DPDK is running, as long as the DUT has the routes setup to send the traffic back to the pktgen-dpdk.
