Hi,
My name is Vitaliy.
There are question
Can we use the I350-AM2, without EEPROM? using only SMBus without changing the bus speed (maximum frequency of 100 KHz).
We have restrictions in the board dimensions, so we want to remove EEPROM chip.

Hello Vitali,
The I350 supports EEPROM-less operation with the following limitations:
- Non-manageabiltiy mode only.
- No support for legacy Wake on LAN (magic packets).
- No support for Flash storage of option ROM code (such as PXE) on a NIC.
- No legacy option ROM support (PXE, iSCSI Boot, etc) is available on NIC or LOM.
- No support for serial ID PCIe capability.
- The EEPROM images released by Intel contains a seet of configuration defaults overrides.
All initialization values usually taken from the EEPROM should be done by the host driver.
Please check the following link for reference: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/ethernet-controller-i350-datasheet.pdf Intel Ethernet Controller I350 Datasheet.
Please let us know if you have any other question.
Best regards,
Gabriel Thomas.

Hello Vitali,
The information you seek is available in the following package file, Document # 348742, https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/library/intelligent-systems.results.html# keyword%3D348742 Intel Network Connection Tools 20.1 PV - LAN Software Tools, it is classified as Intel confidential which requires a CDNA between your company and Intel as well as a Privilege EDC account. To learn more about the benefits of a Privilege please go to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/embedded/embedded-design-center-support.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/embedded/embedded-design-center-support.html then click on "APPLY NOW" found under the heading, "Apply for extras with privilege access to the Intel EDC". After you submit the application, please let me know and I will expedite the review of your application.
Best regards,

I too need a "dev starter" EEPROM image for an i350 chip. This is for an in house developed ARM board. We already have a Intel i350 add-in board working with a mini-itx-7z045 Xilinx Zynq development board (ARM Cortex A-9). We have created a custom board based on this design. I have an in house developed tool to use Linux ethtool commands to read and/or write to the eeprom. I just need an image to program to the virgin eeprom. I have seen references to ARMeeprom tool, which may prove useful. I have applied as a "preferred" developer and been accepted with a CNDA in place. The link provided by Gabriel Thomas did not seem relevant to my problem (no images, just kernel drivers). How can I get the "dev starter" EEPROM image and also possibly ARMeeprom tool?
