 Hardware information

  Coffee lake-Refresh + H310 AMI Firmware (AptioV)

 Software information

  Win10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC(1809) Build 17763.1879

 issue

Sometimes it stops for 42 minutes when Windows boots.

The screen shows the Windows logo and does not show the spinner.

Microsoft reported a bug involving UEFI stall ().

Originally stall (1000) should be 1ms, but it may be 11ms due to overlapping interrupts.

AMI reported that the original code for UEFI stall() was made by Intel.

Please provide information on this issue.

We are now experimenting with the UEFI stall () function with the process of disabling interrupts.

Hello, @Fukasawa

Thanks for your feedback.

In this situation, the best advice that can be provided is to escalate this case to Intel via AMI.

Due to the following reasons:

  • AMI has already established a support path and support channels to work closely with Intel.
  • The information about UEFI reference code from Intel is confidential and requires CNDA signatures and cannot be openly discussed
  • When a fix is found, the fix will be provided directly to AMI and AMI will distribute it to their partners.

Best Regards,

Adolfo S

Hello, @Fukasawa ,

The board you are using is designed by your company, or is a third-party company board?

What is the failure rate?  How many stalls vs. successful Windows boots?

Best Regards,

Adolfo S

Hello, Adolfo S

Thank you for your reply.

This board is designed by my company.

I'm a board circuit designer.

AMI Japan is customizing AMI's CRB BIOS.

The probability of boot failure is about 3%.

It fails once when the power is turned on / off about 40 times.

Best Regards,

Fukasawa
