Hello 1214,
Greetings!
As we checked internally, we do not have any mentions of FSOE in any of our I210 documentation or any related certifications. However some hardware functions that would be included in FSOE are offered such as:
- Link layer retry for recovery following error detection
*using CRC-16 for link layer messages
- No retry following error detection 8b/10b encoding with running disparity
- Software watchdog to give an indication to manageability firmware or external devices that the I210 hardware or software driver is not functional
If you would like to achieve failover/redundancy with I210, you can implement it at the system level, for example you may:
- Design dual i210 controllers for different network paths
- Applied software-based redundancy with safety protocol like PROFIsafe
- Implement network level redundancy
In terms of electrical separation, please refer I210 dual design guide for more information
Please note that to access the above user guide, you will need to use the Intel Resource and Documentation Center via the Developer Zone Premier, which requires CNDA access with Intel.
If you do not have active CNDA, we recommend contacting the Intel Account Representative within your organization who able to help you in creating CNDA.
For more information, please refer to the article below:
