I Cannot find capability of SR-IOV in X710 NIC

Hi, everyone.

I tried to set SR-IOV to use VF of X710 NIC on my server.

I also checked X710 support SR-IOV from intel document.

However, when I checked with 'lspci -vs' command, capability of SR-IOV was not visible on X710.

I have another PCIe device(HW accelerator), but it has SR-IOV capability as below.

Capabilities: [2a0] Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV)

Please help me to check how to activate SR-IOV for X710 NIC.

Thanks in advance.

Jeehoon.

Hello Jeehoon,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

For us to further check the issue, please provide the following details.

  1. Are you using a PCIe X710 or onboard?
  2. What is the brand and model of your system or motherboard?
  3. If you are using a PCIe card, can you send photos of the card on both sides for us to validate if the card is not an OEM unit?
  4. Can you share the screenshot of the issue?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.

Dear Michael,

I use PCIe X710 with R750 Dell server.

Anyway after posting this, I figure out a missing BIOS configuration.

I set VT-d enabled, but didn't configure for NIC.

After configuring as below, I found SR-IOV capability for X710 device!

Go to System BIOS >> Device Settings >> Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710 >> Device Level Configuration >> Virtualization Mode = SR-IOV

BR,

Jeehoon Lee.
