Intel X550-T2 ixs.sys bugcheck (minidump provided)

I have a system that has been stable under Linux for many years and recently I needed to use Windows 11 on the same platform.

While using the system I get random bugchecks for `DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL`. The minidump shows a stack trace pointing the problem at the ixs.sys driver:

I have installed the latest drivers (30.3) for the X550-T2 and have ensured the NVM is running the correct version for this driver according to the documentation.

As this device is completely stable under Linux and this fault is only evident under Windows it points to a bug in the driver itself.

Platform Details:
CPU: AMD EPYC 7473X
MB: SuperMicro H12SSL-i
RAM: 128GB ECC
OS: Windows 11 Pro (10.0.26100 Build 26100)
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. T20240304184441, 4/03/2024

I have no more time or patience with you to get this resolved, this device (and all other intel NICs in my infrastructure) are being relegated to the bin.

I have swapped to a Chelsio T6, and not only does it 'just work' for both Windows and Linux with the built in drivers, it's rock solid stable, and has not been crippled with the removal of VLAN functionality in Windows 11 like Intel did to the X550.

Hello gnif,

Greetings!

I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience you've experienced.

We understand your frustration and respect your decision to move to an alternative solution.

We have checked this with our team and we have tested the drivers from Driver pack 29.5, 30.1, 30.1.0.1, 30.3 and we did not encounter the BSOD or VLAN issues you described. We tested in 2 different platforms with X550-T2 and Windows 11 build 26100 and did not see any BSOD even after multiple boot ups/restarts/power cycles.

We appreciate your input—it helps us improve. If you need any assistance with other Intel products in the future, we’re here to help. We will go ahead and archive this thread for now.

Regards,
