This is the ethernet port on my MSI Z890 Gaming Wifi Plus mobo that is using the Killer E5000B 5 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I have updated the BIOS and ethernet drivers and the internet connection still randomly drops.
I have made all the changes to keep the connection active to no avail. I'm also wondering if I can avoid the Killer ethernet drivers and install generic ethernet driver instead. I'm also not going to install the Intel Killer Performance Suite since it's incompatible with Windows 11 24h2 on an MSI Z890 mobo.

Hello DonRSM,
Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.
For me to better understand and diagnose the issue further, let me ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help me isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action moving forward.
- Was it working fine before?
- If yes, what was the last change made in the system before the issue started?
- Can you check and take a screenshot of the Killer E5000 in the device manage if it is detected and if there is an error?
- How did you update the driver?
- How long have you been using this motherboard with embedded Killer E5000?
If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,
Michael L.

I should mention that I am running 64-bit Windows 11 Pro on version 23h2 due to Windows 11 24h2 having an issue with MSI motherboards.
- Was it working fine before?
No. Internet connectivity was always spotty with this MSI Z890 Gaming Wifi Plus mobo that is using the Killer E5000B 5 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. The internet connection just drops randomly even though I know I am still connected because all of my other devices remain online. - If yes, what was the last change made in the system before the issue started?
Nothing was changed. - Can you check and take a screenshot of the Killer E5000 in the device manage if it is detected and if there is an error?
- How did you update the driver?
By downloading the LAN driver provided by MSI found here:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z890-GAMING-PLUS-WIFI/support#driver - How long have you been using this motherboard with embedded Killer E5000?
About 3 weeks.

Hello DonRSM,
Thank you for the update.
To be honest, a brand-new unit should not behave like this. Have you tried to contact the manufacturer of the board to check if this is a hardware issue?
You may also try Intel's generic driver in the link below.

TBH, I believe these issues started after I installed the Intel Killer Performance Suite. Even though I uninstalled it, I believe there are remnants of that software still on my system and most likely causing the problem.

On August 12, Microsoft released a 24h2 update to Windows 11 that included stability fixes. This appears to have solved the issue because my wifi and ethernet connections are now stable and I haven't lost connection since I updated my system with this patch.

Hi,
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem with that adapter. While WIFI works fine, the ethernet connection drops frequently. I'm working on a MSI B860 Gaming Plus Wifi; PC is new and worked fine untill i updated drivers. Could you please advise?
Cheers
Olaf
