Network adapter issues with Windows Server 2019

While recognized in Windows 10, Windows Server 2019 is not recognizing

1) Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260

2) Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I218-V

3) Intel(R) I211 Gigabit Network Connection

on Gigabyte X99-Phoenix SLI-CF motherboard with i7-6950X processors

For 1), the error is "A service installation section in this INF is invalid"

For 2 & 3, "Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) adapters are present in the computer"

For #1, I tried restoring the drivers from an identical machine with Windows 10. For #2 and #3, I tried running ProWinX64.exe version 24.3

I also tried

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28396/Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-Server-2019-

Is there any solution to get network adapters working on this motherboard with intel adapters? All non-intel drivers are working...

Also if I were to buy a new network interface card with RJ45 ports, how can I be sure it will work with windows server 2019? From the intel documentation, I thought that these dual NICs I already had would have worked.

Hi TC2378954983427,

Thank you for posting in Intel® Ethernet Communities.

For 1, you may post the query in the Wireless Communities.

For 2, kindly share the following:

  • Exact Windows version including build information
  • Device ID with Subsystem vendor and ID. For example - "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15BC&SUBSYS_15BC1849&REV_10"
  • BIOS version of your Gigabyte X99-Phoenix SLI-CF

For 3, This is not supported on Windows 2019.

In case you would purchase a 1 GbE network interface card with RJ45 port, I210-T1 or I350-T4 can be your options. These are supported on Windows 2019. Please visit this link and go to the "Windows* support for 1 GbE Intel® Ethernet Network Adapters" section for the details.

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,

Hi TC,

Good day!

After further confirmation, the I218-V is targeted for client systems and is not supported on Windows Server 2019.

Let us know if you have other assistance needed.

A workaround I found was to install drivers for Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-LM and Intel(R) Ethernet I210-T1 GbE NIC.

Good day!

Please be informed the workaround you've implemented is not a supported configuration and some features may not work.

Understood, thank you. I installed a 4 port addon card with 2019 support yesterday. The file copy performance with the unsupported driver and unsupported nics was actually a little better sadly. Definitely going to 10 gigabit when prices go down. I also may try to use all 6 ports when I can make a switch vlan tweak.

Hi TC,

The I218-V and I211 are integrated components and might have priority over PCIe lanes compared to add-on card. We'd suggest to get in touch with Gigabyte Support for this matter.

Please let us know if there's other assistance needed from Intel® Ethernet Communities.
