Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bit edition

ASRock QC 5000 ITX Mainboard

Intel Desktop CT GBe PCIe adapter

Using Proset release 21

The OS will automatically detect and bring the card up. What I'm needing in addition is the ANS suite so I can team adapters in a LAG.

The OS installation is brand new as of 4 hours ago to a 240GB SSD.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products/000005734.html Learn Which Intel® Ethernet Adapters Are Supported in Windows 8.1*

In box support: Yes

Full support: No

In short, Windows 8.1 contains a driver for that device, but Intel does not supply a newer driver than the one built into Windows 8.1. So, the installer is correct in that it cannot see a compatible driver for that O/S for your given device.

Re-Read where I said:

The OS will automatically detect and bring the card up*this is a given*. What I'm needing in addition is the ANS suite so I can team adapters in a LAG.

I get it that there are inbuilt drivers with Windows 8.1 I don't need the driver install. I need a method for installing ANS so I can effectively setup a LAG TEAM.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products/000005504.html "Drivers and software for Intel® Ethernet Adapters lists driver downloads for Intel® Ethernet Adapters that include Intel® Advanced Network Services (Intel® ANS) teaming software. A separate download for teaming software is not required or available."

This is baffling to say the least. You can't selectively install ANS without the driver installation function be selected parenthetical.

Hi Cymatikana,

Thank you for the post. Gize2 has pointed it out. The CT desktop adapter does not have the full support driver (which contains the ANS) in Windows 8.1, you may refer to this website for reference

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products/000005734.html

The table in the website shows CT desktop adapter can be supported in Windows 8.1 with built-in driver from the OS but there is no ANS driver for teaming.

Hope the above clarified.

Thanks,

Thanks. I manually extracted Proset and the readme file isn't clear on this and how I found my way to the forums here. The other tidbit of confusion is that I had this working with the exact same adapters in Windows 7 with ANS. So the limitation is an artificially imposed one

Hi Cymatikana,

Thank you for pointing this out. CT desktop adapter support teaming in other operating system such as Windows* 7, Windows 8 and others that is why it is included in the statement mentioned.

Based on this link, you can check the operating system that supports:

Hope this helps.

Hi Cymatikana,

The CT desktop adapter has only in-box support for Win 8.1 as stated in the link mentioned earlier.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products/000005734.html

Thus external driver or ANS will not work. Please feel free to update me if you still have other inquiries. Thank you.
