I have a Intel ethernet X772, as the below:
# ethtool -i eth0
driver: i40e
version: 2.12.6
firmware-version: 4.00 0x800014d0 0.0.0
expansion-rom-version:
bus-info: 0000:b6:00.0
supports-statistics: yes
supports-test: yes
supports-eeprom-access: yes
supports-register-dump: yes
supports-priv-flags: yes
# lspci -s b6:00.0 -vvnn
b6:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection X722 for 10GbE backplane [8086:37ce] (rev 04)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection X722 for 10GbE backplane [8086:0000]
...
According to document: "Intel® Ethernet Connection X722 Feature Support Matrix (Rev. 3.4) (January 2025)", I want to upgrade firmware (device NVM image) to v5.00 since its i40e kernel driver is v2.12.6.
I downloaded and run Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack (v25.2), because v25.2 match the i40e kernel driver 2.12.6.
But it shows update not available. Obviously X772 firmware cannot be upgraded by this way.
Did Intel have other methods to download and upgrade X722 firmware to v5.00?

Hello yudapeng,
Thank you for reaching out to Intel Community!
Hope this message finds you well.
I was reviewing your thread and I would like to confirm if this network adapter is a LOM (LAN-on-Motherboard) or if you are using a Retail Adapter? If you have the complete model of the adapter would be great as well.
On the other hand, please check the following link in order to download the NVM image of the x722: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000034617/ethernet-products/700-series-network-adapters-up-to-40gbe.html
Please let me know the outcome and also if the link helps you to find the information you are looking for. I will be waiting for your outcome in order to proceed with the next step.
Thank You & Best Regards,
Ragulan_Intel

Thanks for the information, I think that X722 is a LOM.
I checked the download links for LOM, but their firmware versions did not match my expectation.
I think contact Intel customer support may help.

Hi Yudapeng,
Good day!
As the network adapter is a LOM (LAN-on-Motherboard), we recommend reaching out to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for further assistance. Given the presence of custom firmware and BIOS, their expertise and resources will be valuable in resolving the issue and ensuring proper functionality of the Intel® Ethernet Controller on the motherboard.
Should you need any additional information or assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Simon
