Do the WGI219LM chip need to burn firmware so that can work?

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.
NIC does not typically require firmware to be burned in order to function properly. The chip contains built-in firmware that is loaded automatically when the device is powered on.
Updating the firmware on systemboard and device driver can sometimes improve performance, fix bugs, or add new features.
