Intel® Ethernet Connections Boot Utility, Preboot Images, and EFI Drivers

the above link is the latest intel Ethernet product line utility, but I266-V is not included.  we found I226-V delay performance is even lower than USB ethernet controller, unbelieveable.  we want tool to update flash or nvm.

Hi Vikas,

This is NUC from lenovo, the processor is I7-13620H, the NIC is I226V (8086/125C).  The NIC was integrated on motherboard.  Firmware version seems pretty old.  I think these firmware should be easily acessed by customer. But it seems to be difficult to get them, even the latest version info.

Peter

Hi Peter3718,

Thank you for your reply.

Please find link below related to the requested file for Intel Ethernet Controller I226-V. Kindly take note that this files may require access to RDC. If you do not have access to RDC, please refer to below link for How to Apply for an Intel® Resource and Documentation Center (RDC) and/or Intel® Developer Zone (Intel® DevZone) Account. Additionally, please note that standard Corporate Non-Disclosure Agreement (CNDA) is required to access the RDC.

Hi Sazzy,

unfortunately,  RDC account request is rejected. Could you send me the package via email (<<<email address removed>>>) or attach here? I think they should be in public release package, not under RDC.

Best regards

Peter

I don't agree. These tools can be abused to damage (or at least appear to damage) people's motherboards. There is thus a security issue here and a CNDA must be an absolute requirement for distribution. As well, software such as this should *never*, *ever* be redistributed by an insecure method such as email.
Sorry, but reality bites,

I don't think so. In fact, Intel has released such package in a public support link, and release note also mentioned it supports I226.  That's why i request them.

Hi, I have one of these Asus X670E series motherboards with the buggy I226-V Intel NICs that intermittently drops connections unexpectedly like this I225-V did as described in this Reddit post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/xypn1m/network_card_intel_ethernet_controller_i225v_igc/

I just updated the BIOS to the most recent version (Version 3112 17.75 MB 2025/06/17) but the issue persists.  I do not appreciate this kludge workaround in Linux where you must pass these parameters to the kernel at boot:

pcie_port_pm=off pcie_aspm.policy=performance

...because I shouldn't have to sacrifice all PCI express bus power savings just because the Intel I226-V is bugged.  In principle I dislike using operating system specific software bandaids to workaround hardware bugs that could be fixed via a firmware update.

Therefore, Intel engineers: please either release the fixed Intel® Ethernet Controller I226 NVM as part of an update to the Intel Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/15084/intel-ethernet-adapter-complete-driver-pack.html

...or send Asus an updater package that they can soon post in the BIOS/Firmware sections of their motherboard support website.  For the Asus X670E-A board that I have, that page is here:

https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x670e-a-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/

I neither have a developer account with Intel, nor have I signed an NDA with them, so I cannot download the I226-V NVM at the link in this thread.

Thank you

Is there a public release now? My I226-V keeps dropping connection..

Can you provide the an update about a possible release of the I226-V firmware?

The I226-V adapter seems to have issues with pcie Active-State Power Management (ASPM) resulting in dropping connections as stated above.

The Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack claims support for the I226-V controller but the firmware is not included

Hey!

There’s no available firmware, and Intel only offers contracts for companies, and then you can have the FW. I'd recommend getting a USB-C Ethernet adapter instead. Based on my experience, I’ll likely avoid choosing an Intel motherboard in the future.

I’ve been emailing them for several weeks, but unfortunately no one has been able to help.
