multicast Roadmap in SR-IOV

in multi VMs environment, when using multicast in SR-IOV mode, multicast is replicated by default in all interfaces with same Vlan ID, to overcome this issue, we are assigning different Vlan ID for each interface, however this is complicating the overall design, the use of such design in production environment is almost impossible, especially from orchestration point of view.

do you have plans to develop IGMP snooping in SR-IOV? to prevent unnecessary multicast replication to all interfaces with same Vlan ID?

thanks for your support

Hello adern1,

Thank you for the confirmation. At this point, it is best if you can try to contact HP and ask for the appropriate driver. 3rd party manufacturer may alter some specification of the card so the best team to check that is HP.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello adern1,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

I need to check this inquiry if there is plan to implement multicast in SR_IOV.

For me to further check this, please provide the following details.

  1. Are you using on-board NIC or PCIe NIC?
  2. What is the model of your NIC card?
  3. What is your OS?

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello adern1,

Is it an HP branded NIC? Can you provide the markings or photo of the NIC focusing on the markings on both sides of the card?

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello Mike HPE doesn’t develop SR-IOV on NIC, I am asking about a core feature missing on any NIC. Kindly check more and let me know! Best regards

Hello adern1,

That is exactly what I am trying to explain. OEM manufacturer may have altered the specification of the card. And if they made some changes, those are unknown to us.

If you have questions, please let us know.
