Hello,
We are working with the I210 NIC.
We found that some of these components have different ETrackIDs:
0x800006eb
0x800006ed
(Q: what is the 'middle number' to firmware_version? A: the ETrackID)

[root@ ~]#
[root ~]# lspci -s c3:00.0
c3:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation I210 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03)
Based on this help document, the ETrackID can be replaced by using nvmupdate64e and a config file:
1579376_332161_Intel+Ethernet+NVM+Update+Tool+Quick+Usage+Guide+for+Linux.pdf
However we are using bootutil64e to flash the NIC:
[root]# md5sum bootutil64e
354f78ddd0e61581b275692c8b85206d bootutil64e
[root]# md5sum BootIMG.FLB
a8c5e9ea0f270060be0503014493a068 BootIMG.FLB
## running the flash
./bootutil64e -nic=1 -up=combo -file=BootIMG.FLB -quiet
./bootutil64e -nic=1 -BOOTENABLE=DISABLED
./bootutil64e -nic=1
## reboot for new version to take effectIt doesnt look like bootutil64e supports using a config file.
Our issue is that we need the string from ethtool 'firmware_version : ...' to match on all same-config products that are assembled with this NIC.
We may redesign the failing test to ignore this portion of the string, confirming only NVM version (3.25) and combo image version (1.3220.0).
But we were wondering if there is a way to update the ETrackID using bootutil64e.
Can ETrackID be updated using bootutil64e?
Is the I210 NIC supported by nvmupdate64e?
Thanks for any assistance.

Hello EJ_FMT,
Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.
From your query, we understand that you wish to match the string from ethtool on all the systems assembled with I210 NIC and you wish to know if the ETrackID can be updated using bootutil64e.
As your query is design related and as we see that your organization has a CNDA with us, we request you to create an IPS (Intel premier support) case for this concern.
You can follow the steps given in the below link to create an IPS case with us.

Hello,
Got it solved.
The trick was to use 'eeupdate64e /gui' to modify the ETrackID in the EEPROM.
EEUPDATE v5.35.23.02
Thank you!
Marking 'solved'.
