Default Parallel Flash Loader isn't working

Hey,

I have a problem with Cyclone 3 device. The default Parallel Flash Loader (PFL) isn't working. I need a PFL for Active-Parallel configuration.

I noticed that there is a PFL IP by Altera but It mentioned that it supports in Passive-Serial or Fast-Passive-Parallel (Page 8) :

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/ug/ug_pfl.pdf

Do you know about an IP for Active-Parallel configuration?

Thank you very much

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Intel community.

As mention in the PFL userguide, PFL IP is only for  Passive-Serial or Fast-Passive-Parallel.

Kindly refer below for Active-parallel:

C3 handbook:

Let me know if you need further information.

hey,

In the link about the Active-parallel, the PFL IP is mentioned (AN 478). So the PFL IP does support the Active-Parallel or I should do a state machine by myself to configure the flash?

thanks

Hi,

Apologize for the misunderstanding.

PFL IP do support Active parallel but only applicable to Cyclone 3 and 4 only. Active parallel supported common flash interface(CFI) parallel flash memory. Hence you may refer to AN478 for further information.

Thank you.

Aiman
